Distribution: from Eastern Africa to Southern Japan, Hawaii and Rapa. Also occurs in Eastern Pacific, from the Gulf of California to Panama, including the Galápagos Islands and Cocos Island. One of the most widely distributed and easy-to-spot surgeonfish in the Indo-Pacific.
