Distribution: western Atlantic, from New York and Bermuda to Brazil. Present throughout the Caribbean Sea, for example in Florida, Roatan and the Mayan Riviera but less common than Pomacanthus paru.
As most of angelfish species, Pomacanthus arcuatus go through dramatic aspect changes with growth, and the juveniles are colored very differently from the adults.
Sometimes confused with Pomacanthus paru.
